Biography
Visual & New-Media Artist / Hybrid Photographer / Editorial Image Maker
Franck Gérard (b. 1969) has developed a singular practice at the crossroads of visual art, experimental photography, and contemporary editorial imagery. His work unfolds within a hybrid territory where generative images, advanced digital processes, and a refined black-and-white photographic language constantly intersect.
His aesthetic is built on a deliberate tension between the real and the fictional: fleeting silhouettes, disappearing bodies, reconstructed faces, ultra-graphic editorial structures. This visual grammar—refined over more than two decades—allows him to anticipate and shape the emerging iconographies of the post-photographic era.
Research-driven in his approach, he constructs images that draw from fashion culture, narrative editorial codes, and experimental photography. His signature grainy black-and-white works coexist with highly conceptual color images born from generative processes that he diverts, re-orchestrates, and recomposes. The result is a visual field where algorithmic creation, editorial sensibility, and authorial intent become inseparable.
Franck Gérard has developed a visual language instantly recognizable for its aesthetic precision, narrative subtlety, and ability to create images that feel both familiar and impossible. His work is exhibited in galleries, thematic shows, and professional contexts where visuals are expected to be innovative, elegant, and charged with iconic presence.
Franck Gérard collaborates with luxury brands and performing-arts companies, bringing his hybrid visual language into fashion, hospitality, stage environments, and high-end creative campaigns. His work has been exhibited internationally and now appears in private collections as well as luxury-hospitality spaces.
With a community of over 300,000 followers on Instagram, he develops an influential and highly curated visual presence, articulating a bold, contemporary view of what post-photographic image-making can be.
